How Does the Waterproof Pocket Work?

Randy Cow's waterproof pocket is a fully sealed internal pocket integrated into the waistband of the shorts. Unlike simple zip pockets that claim water resistance, our pocket uses a waterproof welded seal construction that has been independently tested to remain completely dry at depths of up to 30 metres.

The pocket is large enough to fit a modern smartphone, folded notes and a card - everything you'd want to keep dry on a beach day or boat trip. The opening sits flush against the waistband and is completely invisible from the outside, so there's no bulge or visual disruption to the shorts.

What Can You Keep in a Waterproof Pocket Swim Short?

The waterproof pocket is designed to fit a modern smartphone (including larger models), folded bank notes, a credit card and a key. Customers have used them successfully for snorkelling, surfing, paddleboarding, cliff jumping and open water swimming. One of our customers wore them diving in Barbados to 20 metres and reported the pocket was bone dry on surfacing - with money still inside.

The pocket is not a replacement for specialist diving equipment at serious depths, but for everyday beach and holiday use it provides a level of security that no ordinary swim short can match.

Most swim shorts described as having "secure pockets" use a simple zip closure. Zips are not waterproof - water enters through the zip teeth under pressure, especially when swimming or in surf. Randy Cow's welded seal pocket construction is fundamentally different, creating a watertight barrier that holds at depth rather than just keeping out splashes.
